Doug, I’ve been following this blog for a couple of years. You and your family are such a great example of love and faith. I pray for you all as you travel this journey with your sweet, sweet Karen.

What a wonderful legacy Karen has given us – her extended friend family. She and I always talked about our kids, too, and when I would say ‘ You gave great kids’, she would say ‘Yes they are.’. The important values of life she, alongside with you, instilled and exhibited for all of us. She has answered her Call for the Kingdom and will certainly hear ‘well done faithful servant’.

I wish I was closer. Wish I was there! But God has a plan for us all. I pray without ceasing for my sweet KK and especially all of you. Our arms of love reach all the way from TX!

Love you dearly. We are always here for you.

Thank you, Doug, for all your faithful and faith-filled blogs you posted during these years of Karen’s valiantly fought battle with cancer. The last time I had lunch with her she said firmly, “God will take care of me.” Her heart never wavered from that conviction.
And your consistent prayer, “God’s will– Nothing more, Nothing less, Nothing else,” will forever have an impact on my life.
    Love and prayers always,
    Martha James

Matt 8:14….WHEN JESUS CAME INTO PETERS’ HOUSE, HE SAW PETERS’ MOTHER IN LAW LYING IN BED WITH A FEVER. HE TOUCHED HER HAND & THE FEVER LEFT HER, & SHE GOT UP & BEGAN TO WAIT ON HIM. WHEN EVENING CAME, MANY WHO WERE DEMON POSESSED WERE BROUGHT TO HIM… & HE DROVE OUT THE SPIRITS WITH A WORD & HEALED ALLL THE SICK. THIS WAS TO FULFILL WHAT WAS SPOKEN THROUGH THE PROPHET.. ISAIAH..”HE HIMSELF TOOK UP OUR INFIRMITIES & CARRIED OUR DISEASES.”

You don’t know me, but I’ve followed your blog and have been so inspired by your story. I was diagnosed with stage 3 clear cell ovarian cancer in July 2010. I also was in a trial, GOG-252 and had IP/IV cisplatin and taxol, along with Avastin. My last Avastin treatment was scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving 2011. A week prior to that, I discovered a lump in my breast and unfortunately it was cancer – breast cancer, not ovarian that had metastized. So I’m back in chemo for 6 cycles and then a double masectomy. Your story of Karen’s journey and your family and friend’s support has been a source of comfort and inspiration to me. Sometimes I am so MAD at God, then I come to this blog and I feel His arms wrapped around me. I am praying that Karen finds those arms, as she has many, many times and they wrap her in warmth and light. Thank you for your posts over the years.

Please know that we too have had similar experience, and that we admire and appreciate your openness in this matter of extremely personal nature.
May God bless and warm you and assure you in these most humbling moments.

Oh Baker family, how I love you dearly! We serve such an awesome God! I praise Jesus for the examples you and Karen have been in my life and I am so blessed to be apart of your life. I am constantly praying for your sweet family and praise the Lord for what He has done through your family.

My heart is crying out to our beautiful Father on behalf of your family and the comfort of all of you, your hearts, your emotions, your pain, and your love for one another. Our God is faithful and the verse that I can’t get out of my heart is Psalm 34:3.

“Proclaim with me the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt His name together.” Praying for you all in this difficult time. Praying Karen is resting in peace and pain free and that the Lord’s will be done.

    I love you guys! Kayla

Your love and acceptance of this situation continues to amaze Mark and me. I just think of those on the other side who anxiously await Karen’s arrival in heaven. How wonderful for Karen when she meets Jesus gave to face. That being said, our hearts grieve for you, sweet Doug, and for your adorable children— and for all of us who love her so much. I know God will lift you into his arms and carry you. We will all be there for you.

Doug you and Karen amaze me so much. Karen you have shown such great strength with each battle that satan has thrown at you, never giving in and never giving up. Im sure at times you wanted to throw in the towel. But you didnt. You’re a remarkable woman and the legacy you leave behind will be remembered forever. Doug you have been a wonderful husband, standing by your wife, wishing you could take her pain, wishing you could fight her battle. Your rewards await in heaven. Karen you have fought long and hard and through it all you kept your faith. We keep your family lifted up in prayers. Doug call anytime day or night if you need anything. Love, prayers, and peace to your family.

Miracles indeed do happen. As someone posted somewhere earlier – “Karen is the miracle”. Karen, her story, the Baker family – have and continue to show us the Miracle. The miracle of LOVE.
My thoughts and prayers continue to go out for you all.
“On the wings of a snow white dove, He sends his pure, sweet LOVE. A sign from above…on the wings of a dove…”
For some reason I needed to share that song…
